Ukraine has been able to build a reliable air defense system and continuesto improve it with the help of its partner countries, the Ukrinform news agency quoted Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov as saying on June 15.

Modern Western aircraft to be delivered to Ukraine will become another reliable component of the country’s air defenses in the future, Reznikov noted.

Ukrainian forces have the world’s most advanced Patriot, NASAMS IRIS-T and SAMP/T systems, Reznikov added.“The next level is other systems, such as the Crotales, the Gepards, as well as the Soviet ones that we still have, and up to the manual MANPADS,i.e. the multi-range systems,” he said.

The minister also spoke about the creation of an aircraft coalition, which is beginning with the training of Ukrainian pilots to fly modern Western aircraft.

“We already know that we will have aircraft as part of our air defenses, which indicates that this system is continuing to develop,” Reznikov said.

During the 13th Ramstein Defense Contact Group meetings, Ukraine’s partner countries announced their commitments to continue providing the country with the necessary missiles and launch systems, the official emphasized.

“As early as this month or in the coming months, we’ll receive the first Hawk systems, which we did not have yet, as well as the relevant equipment and missiles for them,” the minister stressed.

“So, air defense is developing in our country. Today, I reiterated to the partners that air defense is the first priority.”
