Ukraine doing better than most of Europe against COVID-19, says health minister
Ukraine is holding up well against COVID-19, with Volyn and Zaporizhzhya the only Ukrainian oblasts now in “red zone” lockdowns, Ukrainian Health Minister Viktor Liashko said at a press conference on Dec. 20.
“At the moment Ukraine is doing better than most European countries when it comes to COVID-19,” Liashko said.
“Only two oblasts have to remain flagged as ‘red zones,’'” he said.
According to Liashko, COVID-19 restrictions will soon be eased in the rest of Ukraine.
The Ministry of Health reports that over the last 24 hours, 2,536 new positive cases of COVID-19 were recorded, 157 people died of the disease, and 6,690 people recovered.
