Ukrainian military successfully repels attacks in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts, reports General Staff

The Ukrainian Armed Forces repelled Russian attacks near 13 settlements in Donetsk and Luhansk oblasts in the past 24 hours, Ukraine's General Staff reported in its morning update on Dec. 5.
The attacks occurred near and around the settlements of Ploshchanka and Bilohorivka in Luhansk Oblast, as well as in and around Berestove, Bilohorivka, Yakovlivka, Soledar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Kliishchiivka, Andriivka, Mariinka and Novomykhaylivka in Donetsk Oblast.
In the past day, Russian invading forces carried out seven missile and 32 air strikes, and shelled Ukrainian positions and settlements along the frontline over 50 times with artillery.
- In the Volyn and Polisk areas in north-western Ukraine, the situation has not changed notably – there is no evidence of the presence of any enemy offensive forces. Belarus continues to support Russian armed aggression against Ukraine, providing Russia with its ground and air areas for launching air and missile strikes. Some Belarusian armed forces' units are on duty near the border with Ukraine
- In the Siversky area in north-central Ukraine, occupying forces conducted mortar attacks against the settlements of Sopych, Svarkove and Zarutske in Sumy Oblast.
- In the Slobozhanske area in north-eastern Ukraine, invading forces fired artillery of various calibers in and around Tymophiivka, Strilecha, Starytsia, Buhruvatka, Ohirtseve, Vovchansk, Bochkove, Mala Vovcha, Dvorichna, Tavilzhanka and Bohdanivske in Kharkiv Oblast.
- In the Kupyansk and Lyman areas on the border between Kharkiv, Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts, Russian forces continue to defend their positions. The enemy launched tank and artillery attacks of various calibers in and around Kyslivka, Kotliarivka, Tabaiivka, Krochmalne, Berestove and Vyshneve in Kharkiv Oblast, as well as in and around Novoselivske, Myasozharivka, Makiivka, Ploshchanka in Luhansk Oblast; also near Yampolivka and Andriivka in Donetsk Oblast.
- In the Bakhmut and Andriyivka areas in Donetsk Oblast, Russian forces continue to focus their offensive activities in attempt to strengthen their positions. The enemy used tank and artillery fire of various calibers in the vicinity of Soledar, Chasiv Yar, Bakhmutske, Bakhmut, Opytne, Kostiantynivka, Klishchiivka, Avdiivka, Kurdiumivka, Zalizne, Pervomayske, Vodiane, Vesele, Krasnohorivka, Mariinka and Novomykhailivka.
- In the Novopavlivsk and Zaporizhzhya areas in south-eastern Ukraine, invading forces have taken defensive positions while shelling in and around Novosilka, Neskuchne, Zolota Nyva and Prechystivka in Donetsk Oblast, as well as Novoandriivka, Novodanylivka, Zaliznyzhne, Huliaypole, Chervone and Dorozhniaka in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
- In the Kherson area in south-central Ukraine, Russian invasion forces shelled over 20 settlements along the western bank of the Dnipro River, in particular the city of Kherson.
