Unknown individuals have draped the Ukrainian flag over a plinth in front of Kherson’s city council building amid the Russian withdrawal from the city, according to a photograph posted onto Telegram by journalist Konstantin Ryzhenko on Nov. 11.
Meanwhile, a local Kherson Telegram channel commented on the withdrawal, saying that the city is now relatively quiet.
"About half of the Russian troops have already retreated from the city, another half is still here,” the Khuyoviy Kherson Telegram channel reported.
“Mainly, they've changed into civilian clothes and are trying to hide (but this wouldn't help them). It's also quiet near Kakhovka (in Zaporizhzhya Oblast). The connection with other settlements is bad or absent, so we don't know what is going on there.”
The Ukrainian Armed Forces have already liberated a number of settlements in the south of the country, including Snihurivka, Bruskinske, Borozenske, and Kyselivka – located just 15 km away from Kherson.
The Ukrainian troops continue the liberation of the south of the country.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu ordered a retreat of all Russian forces on the west bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast on Nov. 9. Ukrainian intelligence reports have indicated that while some of the Russian garrison have begun to retreat over the river, blowing bridges behind them, others have changed into civilian clothing and will likely be conducting urban insurgent warfare to delay the Ukrainian advance.
