Ukraine has only 10% of the number of air defense systems needed to protect the country from Russian missile and flaying bomb attacks, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said during his speech at the PACE session on Oct. 13.

He noted that Ukraine also has its own air defense systems, but these are far from sufficient to cover the entire country, especially against a huge enemy.

“We’re facing a country with a large territory, a large amount of equipment and missiles,” Zelenskyy said of Russia.

The president noted that Russia had struck Ukraine’s territory with 130 cruise missiles over the past day, and had also used dozens of kamikaze drones. He thanked Western countries for the supply of equipment and added that he expects strong steps from France and Italy.

“There is nothing to add. To be honest, we only have 10% of what we require,” said Zelenskyy.

France will deliver Crotale radar and air defense systems to Ukraine in the coming weeks, CNN quoted French President Emmanuel Macron as saying on Oct. 12.

U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd J. Austin during a briefing on Oct. 12 said the United States plans to supply Ukraine with more air defense systems as soon as possible.
