Ukrainian Parliamentary Ombudsman for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets held a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, Şeref Malkoç, the Ukrainian official reported via the Telegram messenger on Feb. 3.

“During a conversation with the Turkish colleague, I emphasized that Russia is using negotiations mediated by Turkey as a platform for expressing political slogans and spreading Russian propaganda narratives,” the ombudsman said.

According to Lubinets, Russian propaganda is working to discredit Ukraine and is spreading fake news that have nothing to do with reality.

In turn, Malkoç said that Russia has already been working on lists of Ukrainian civilian prisoners who are over 70 years old, or those over 65 who have chronic diseases.

However, Moscow has requested time to work with these lists.

Lubinets noted that he had thanked Malkoç for his presence, since it is important for Ukraine to have Turkey’s support in the important issue of negotiations with Russia regarding the exchange of prisoners of war and civilian hostages.
