Ukraine's military first and foremost need multirole combat aircraft, in particular F-15 and F-16s, Ukrainian Air Force spokesman Yuriy Ihnat said on Nov. 30, according to the Ukrainian military portal Armia.Inform.
He said even if the Ukrainian Air Force gets MiG-29 fighter aircrafts from partners, they won't help to deal with all problems they face.
"We are aware the enemy has many times the quantity (of aircraft) and technological supremacy,” Ihnat said.
“It has multipurpose aircraft that can perform various tasks on the battlefield, hitting both air and ground targets with a wide range of weapons. Our weapons and aircraft are outdated, unfortunately. We have adapted some U.S. weapons, in particular HARM missiles, but it's not enough.
”Ihnat said that to fight the Russian threat, Ukraine needs multirole aircraft, such as the F-15 and F-16. The enemy has show it intends to carry out more strikes on Ukrainian infrastructure and cities, Ihnat added.
“We need long-range weapons to protect ourselves, including missiles and modern aircraft, Ihnat said.
Ihnat said on Nov. 26 that Ukraine needed many more air defense systems to protect its skies, and multirole combat aircraft to help liberate Russian-occupied parts of the country.
