Ukraine’s state-owned enterprise Ukroboronprom has set up production of 122mm and 155mm shells for its Soviet-era artillery systems, along with 120mm mortar shells, Ukroboronprom said in a message on its website on Nov. 18.

“These armaments have been successfully tested and are being manufactured using NATO technology,” the message said.

According to the message, the production lines have been in operation for several months now, and are distributed across multiple locations – both in Ukraine and its partner countries.

“Ukroboronprom-made ammunition will reduce the reliance of Ukraine’s artillery on supplies from abroad, as the global supply of Soviet-era shells is gradually dwindling,” the company added.

Furthermore, the company said it plans to develop and manufacture heavy weapon systems and military equipment, jointly with six NATO members, including Poland, France, Denmark, and the Czech Republic.

“We’re establishing joint defense enterprises, building closed-loop ammunition production lines, manufacture armored vehicles and rocket artillery systems, and jointly develop new advanced weapon systems,” the message noted.

On Nov. 9, Ukraine and the Czech Republic announced a deal to establish a joint defense industry cluster.
