A paratrooper from Mykolaiv shot down a Russian Su-25 (Grach) attack aircraft with an Igla MANPADS, the Command of the Airborne Assault Troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported on Facebook on June 24.
The command informed that the serviceman, from the air defense divisionof the 79th Air Assault Brigade of Mykolaiv, successfully downed the plane in one of Ukraine’s combat zones.
"... The anti-aircraft gunner came to the army as a volunteer during mobilization and received appropriate training in his specialty, as evidenced by the downed Grach," the message reads.
According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as of the morning of June 24, Russia had lost 217 aircraft since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
