Ukraine’s air defense now intercepts 64% of incoming Russian aerial attacks, deputy head of the Main Operational Department of the General Staff, Brigadier General Oleksiy Gromov, said during a press briefing on Oct. 20.
“The effectiveness of our air defense system remains at a fairly high level - 64%, which means that 81 missiles out of 126 (fired last week) were destroyed,” said Gromov.
According to Gromov, the effectiveness of Ukrainian air defense has increased significantly in recent weeks, mostly due to new weapon shipments from Kyiv’s Western partners.
He added that the Russians had fired 154 missiles at Ukraine since Oct. 10 – seven times more than in the first ten days of October.
