The Armed Forces of Ukraine liberated 179 populated localities in Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts in the past week, the press service of the South Operational Command reported on Facebook on Nov. 13.
The Russians continue conducting defensive operations and building fortifications on the left bank of the Dnipro River.
“Since the beginning of the week, our units on the right bank of the Dnipro have de-occupied 179 settlements covering more than 4,500 square kilometers,” the command said in its statement.
According to the command, units of the Armed Forces are undertaking stabilization measures, including demining, in the liberated settlements and territories of Mykolaiv and Kherson oblasts.
The Armed Forces entered the city of Kherson on Nov. 11, which had been occupied since the first days of Russia’s full-scale war against Ukraine.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed that the Ukrainian Armed Forces were liberating Kherson, but noted that the city had not yet been completely cleared of enemy troops.
The Defense Ministry believes that the clean-up operation in the city may take several weeks.
According to the General Staff, Ukrainian forces have already reached the Dnipro River in some areas of Kherson Oblast.
