Ukraine accumulated 14 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas in its storage facilities, as well as 1.3 million tons of coal ahead of the winter season, the Ukrinform news agency quoted Prime Minister Denys Shmyhal as saying on Nov. 29.

“We’re entering winter with 14 bcm of gas in our storage facilities and 1.3 million tons of coal in warehouses,” Shmyhal said.

“This resource will be enough to sustainably get through the winter.”

The prime minister also said that the Ministry of Economy does not predict a fuel shortage even amid increased imports of diesel and gasoline generators and the related increase in fuel demand.

According to Shmyhal, fuel imports into Ukraine in recent months amounted to about 700,000 tons per month, which is enough to meet the needs of consumers. In addition, the government is in constant dialogue with fuel networks and is closely monitoring the balance of imports and consumption.
