Ukraine’s government sets out procedure for exchange of soldiers’ remains with Russia

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has approved a procedure for the removal, transfer and repatriation of bodies of persons killed as a result of the armed aggression by the Russian Federation, the press service of the Ministry of Reintegration reported on June 18.

The draft resolution was adopted at a regular meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers on June 17, 2022.

It is noted that the exchange (transfer and repatriation) will be carried out as per the decision of the Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine — Minister for Reintegration of the Temporarily Occupied Territories of Ukraine.

Representatives of the Office of the Prosecutor General, the Security Service of Ukraine and the Armed Forces of Ukraine will also be involved in the process, according to the statement.

Ukraine and Russia on June 4 exchanged the bodies of their dead soldiers for the first time in a "160 for 160" format. On June 8, in the Zaporizhzhya Oblast, the bodies of the dead were exchanged between Ukraine and Russia according to a "50 for 50" formula.

The process of returning the bodies of the dead Ukrainian soldiers continues.
