Ukraine’s National Guard halts Russian offensive in Luhansk Oblast, local authorities say
Ukraine’s National Guard has stopped an advance by Russian troops on the town of Rubizhne in Luhansk Oblast, announced the head of the regional military-civil administration, Sergey Haidai, on his Facebook page on March 19.
“All the cities of the oblast are under shelling,” Haidai reported.
“Four people were killed and another 10 wounded… The battles for Rubizhne and Popasna continue. National Guardsmen stopped the offensive of Putin's assassins from the side of the temporarily occupied settlement of Stara Krasnyanka. During the battle, two dozen Russian invaders were destroyed and (the invaders were) forced to retreat.”
Haidai also noted that the Russian Armed Forces accompanied their offensive actions with a 40-minute period of artillery shelling of Rubizhne.
“Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Hirske, Kreminna, Pryvillia, Zolote also came under fire during the day,” he wrote.
“Nineteen multi-apartment and 19 private residential buildings, two healthcare facilities, critical infrastructure facilities, warehouses and outbuildings were damaged.”
