Ukraine shoots down 60 out of 70 incoming Russian missiles

Out of 70 long-range cruise missiles Russia used in its latest attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, at least 60 were intercepted mid-flight, Ukrainian Air Force said in a Telegram post on Dec. 5.
“Russian forces launched a massive missile attack on the critical infrastructure of Ukraine, on Dec. 5; in total, more than 70 missiles were fired,” the message said.
Preliminary reports suggest that 38 Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles were launched by eight Tu-95 strategic bombers, flying above the Caspian Sea region and Russia’s Rostov Oblast.
Moscow also attacked with 22 Kalibr cruise missiles launched by Black Sea Fleet ships, along with more air-launched missiles launched from above the Black Sea.
“Anti-aircraft missile units, aviation, mobile fire groups of the Ukrainian Air Force and other components of the Defense Forces were involved in repelling the air attack,” the report said.
“In total, more than 60 enemy missiles were shot down.”
