The Ukrainian Air Force shot down a Russian Ka-52 helicopter at around 1:00 a.m. over the country’s eastern skies, Air Force Command reported on Telegram on Aug. 24.

“The anti-aircraft units of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine ‘demilitarized’ an invading Russian Ka-52 helicopter,” the report states.

“Happy Independence Day, Ukraine!”

Two Russia Ka-52 helicopters have been destroyed by Ukraine in recent days, on Aug. 22 and 23. Ukrainian forces on Aug. 22 also shot down seven Russian unmanned aerial vehicles and two Kalibr cruise missiles.
