Ukrainian armed forces are to focus their southern efforts on liberating Kherson from Russian occupation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said in his daily video address published via Telegram on June 14.

“We continue to press the invaders in southern Ukraine; our key goal is the liberation of Kherson,” said Zelensky.

“We’ll pursue this goal, step-by-step.”

Earlier, Kherson gubernatorial adviser Serhiy Khalan said that Ukrainian forces had achieved tactical success in their counteroffensive measures in the region, inching ever closer to Kherson over the past two weeks.

According to Khalan, currently, Tavriiske and Tomina Balka, settlements only some 20 kilometers away from the provincial capital, are contested and being fought over.
