Ukraine to receive additional anti-air artillery and missiles from Germany

By the end of February 2023, the Armed Forces of Ukraine will receive guided missiles for air defense systems and five Gepard anti-aircraft tanks from Germany, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said during a visit to Kyiv on Feb. 7, as reported by German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung.

According to Pistorius, Ukraine will also receive another five Biber bridge-laying tanks, which will be delivered in March.

The minister noted that the supply of fighter jets is out of the question.

The press service of the German Ministry of Defense on Twitter added that during the meeting between Pistorius and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy, they discussed the transfer of additional weapons to Ukraine by the end of March. Ukraine will also receive a batch of Leopard-2A6 tanks.

On Feb. 7, the German government issued licenses for German defense companies to supply Ukraine with 178 Leopard-1A5 tanks.

Minister Pistorius reported that Ukraine would receive more than 100 Leopard 1A5 tanks from several European countries.
