Departure from the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhya has been halted due to the tense security situation in the region, the Zaporizhzhya Regional Military Administration reported on the Telegram messenger on May 8.
However, evacuation corridors from other areas of the country to Zaporizhzhya will remain open.
"Currently, the main task is to move a large number of cars to Zaporizhzhya, which have been waiting to enter for several days," the administration said.
Zaporizhzhya Oblast has been a focus of Russian attacks since the beginning of the Battle for Donbas, and serves as a gateway to inner Ukraine. Parts of the oblast have been occupied, including Europe's largest nuclear power plant in the town of Enerhodar.
