Yermak and Sullivan discuss joint defense production and upcoming Ukraine Peace Formula meeting in Malta
Ukrainian presidential chief-of-staff Andriy Yermak spoke to U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan regarding joint arms production and the implementation of Ukraine’s peace plan at an upcoming summit in Malta, the Ukrainian president’s office reported on Oct. 26.
The two also discussed the operational situation in various parts of the frontline and the effectiveness of U.S.-made weapons against the Russian military.
Yermak also thanked President Biden, the House of Representatives and the Senate for their "strong support for Ukraine and Ukrainians in the struggle for freedom, independence and democratic values in Europe.”
The latest U.S. security assistance package to Ukraine was announced on Oct. 11 — the package contains $200 million worth of military equipment, primarily in ammunition, but also contains additional air defense equipment, anti-tank weapons, and other materiel.
Kyiv also received U.S-made ATACMS missiles with cluster payloads from Washington. Using these missiles, Ukrainian forces struck two air bases near the Russian-occupied cities of Berdyansk and Luhansk on Oct. 17, marking the first time that the U.S.-provided weapons have been used in the war.
Earlier, National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) secretary Oleksiy Danilov said that Ukraine would continue to receive ATACMS missiles until the occupied territories are liberated.
The military war may be swinging in our favor, but the information war continues.
