Ukrainian air defenses are successful against Russian warplanes, says UK MoD
Ukraine’s air defense units are seeing “considerable success” in shooting down Russian aircraft, the UK’s Ministry of Defense said in Twitter post on March 9.
According to the message, this is preventing the invading forces from attaining “any degree of control of the air.”
As clashes to the North-West of Kyiv continue, Russian forces have failed to achieve any significant breakthroughs, the ministry added.
Ukraine on March 8 claimed to have shot down two Russian warplanes over the capital city Kyiv.
Meanwhile, the cities of Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy, and Mariupol remain surrounded by Russian troops and are being struck by continuous artillery barrages.
