Ukrainian air defenses shot down all five Russian cruise missiles fired at the city of Dnipro in central-eastern Ukraine overnight, the Governor of Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Valentyn Reznichenko, said on Telegram on Sept. 3.

He said that although the night had been “very loud,” it had been a successful one for the country’s air defense crews.

“The Russians attacked the region with cruise missiles, Grad (rockets), and heavy artillery,” Reznichenko said, giving further details of the overnight enemy attacks.

In the end, debris from the five downed missiles caused several fires around the city, but “firefighters extinguished the flames; no one was injured,” the governor said.
