The Ukrainian Air Force successfully destroyed all 13 cruise missiles launched by Russia overnight on June 23, with the majority of them being intercepted over western Ukraine’s Khmelnytskyi Oblast, a spokesperson said on June 23.

The Russian missiles, specifically Kh-101/Kh-555 cruise missiles, were launched around midnight by Tu-95MS bombers flying over the Caspian Sea.

"A military airfield in Khmelnytskyi Oblast was the intended target of this attack," the spokesperson said.

The air force also said it had shot down an unidentified Russian reconnaissance drone.

Earlier in the day on June 22, Russia launched three Kh-22 missiles, three Kh-47 Kinzhal aeroballistic missiles, and four Shahed-136/131 attack drones against Ukraine.

The missiles failed to reach their targets, however, and air defense forces successfully destroyed three out of the four drones.
