Ukrainian defenders on the Black Sea front have killed 26 Russian invaders with airstrikes, the Ukrainian military’s Operational Command South reported on Facebook on June 7.

"During a strike mission, our missile and artillery units, together with aircraft destroyed 26 racists (Russian soldiers) and 10 units of enemy equipment, including a tank and six more armored vehicles, two vehicles, and a howitzer," OC South reported.

They note that the Russian military continues to fire at the city of Mykolayiv with artillery. A grouping of missile boats also remains in the Black Sea.

"The boat grouping in the Black Sea continues to keep at the ready two surface and one submarine cruise missile carrier,” OC South said.

"Also, one big landing ship is ready for action."

On June 6, Mykolayiv regional governor Vitaliy Kim said that Russian troops had upped their fire against settlements in Mykolayiv Oblast to create the illusion of domination.

"Currently, the shelling of civilian facilities, villages, and cities has increased,” Kim said.

"I think to create the illusion of dominance of Russian troops in the region and report to its leadership.”
