The Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned Ukrainian Ambassador Sergiy Shutenko following a shooting incident in a cafe in the village of Hranitne in which an ethnic Greek person was killed, the press service of the Greek Foreign Ministry reports.

The shooting, which took place on Feb. 13, reportedly involved service members of the Ukrainian armed forces, who opened fire with their service weapons on a local cafe. As a result, one National Guardsman and one civilian perished, and another two people were wounded, according to local police.
The civilian and the other two victims are all said to have been of Greek nationality.
In response, the Greek Foreign Ministry has stated that the Greek side expresses its concern about the situation, and stresses the need to protect the Greek diaspora in Ukraine.
It also called for a full investigation into the incident and to bring those responsible to justice.
The Ukrainian ambassador to Greece his offered sincere condolences to the families of the victims, noting that the cause of the incident was not of a political or ethnic nature, and adding that those responsible had been arrested and would be held accountable.
