The Ukrainian air defense forces shot down a Russian Ka-52 attack helicopter and an unmanned aerial vehicle or reconnaissance drone over the past day, the Ukrainian Air Force reported via the Telegram messenger on Feb. 16.
Ukrainian Air Force warplanes also carried out more than 20 sorties, having launched 15 strikes at concentrations of enemy troops.
The Ukrainian military’s General Staff reported 298 enemy warplanes and 287 enemy helicopters have already been destroyed since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
Earlier, the UK’s Financial Times newspaper, citing two sources among officials, reported that Russia is deploying aircraft and helicopters near Ukraine’s borders.
At the same time, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said that Pentagon does not see any sign that Russia is increasing its aviation forces in order to launch a massive attack on Ukraine.
