Ukrainian army kills over 100 troops, destroys howitzers in the south

Ukraine’s army, advancing in the country’s southern Kherson Oblast, has destroyed 18 Russian howitzers and killed more than 100 enemy soldiers in the past 24 hours, Ukraine’s South Operational Command said in its report for Oct. 6
Ukrainian forces also shot down another Iranian-made Mohajer-6 “kamikaze” drone, the command said.
In a day of fighting, six Orlan-10 unmanned reconnaissance aerial vehicles were shot down along with the Mohajer-6 UAV – in the Beryslav and Mykolaiv districts of Kherson Oblast.
Three Shahed-136 drones attacking Odesa were also shot down, the command said.
Ukrainian rocket and artillery units completed 347 fire missions in total. The Ukrainian Air Force carried out seven air strikes – on enemy fortified positions and areas of concentration of enemy forces in the Beryslav district, and on enemy air defense units in the Kakhovka region.
Confirmed enemy losses include:
- 105 Russian soldiers;
- 8 tanks;
- 18 Msta-S and Msta-B large-caliber howitzers;
- 1 Pion self-propelled cannon;
- 1 152-mm caliber howitzer;
- 4 mortars;
- 15 armored vehicles;
- 3 ammunition depots in the Bashtan and Beryslav districts.
Another six units of enemy equipment, including tanks, an armored combat vehicle, a howitzer and a radio-electronic warfare station, were seriously damaged in Ukrainian attacks, the command added.
