Ukraine’s army has launched offensive actions on many axes in the south of Ukraine, the head of the joint press center of the Southern Defense and Security Forces, Nataliya Gumenyuk, said on Aug. 29.

"Having exhausted the enemy, we already have the strength and the ability to launch offensive actions in several directions, which, accordingly, is happening now," Gumenyuk said, according to Ukrainian news website Hromadske.

Earlier it was reported that the "109th regiment of the DPR" had left its positions along with Russian paratroopers, who were supposed to be their support in Kherson Oblast.

The DPR is short for the Donetsk People’s Republic – a sham statelet set up in part of Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast by Russia in 2014, and supported since then with arms, supplies and money.

Ukraine’s Kakhovka Operational Grouping of troops posted a video on their Facebook page in which one of the invaders says that the Ukrainian Armed Forces "broke through the first line of defense."

Other recent reports said that the Armed Forces of Ukraine have destroyed almost all bridges in Kherson Oblast, cutting off Russian invasion forces from their weapons and personnel supply from Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Crimea. The only way to cross the bridges now is by foot, reports say.

Gumenyuk previously reported that after accurate strikes by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kherson Oblast, the invaders had refused to go on the offensive but were remaining on their fortified lines.
