Ukrainian troops have managed to move a little bit further forward in the Kreminna section of the front in Luhansk Oblast, regional governor Serhiy Hayday said on national television on Jan. 14.
The situation is tense but is under control of the Ukrainian army, he said.
"In the direction of Donetsk Oblast, Bilohorivka is constantly under fire,” Hayday said.
“Our defenders are repelling all the enemy's attacks. The same situation in the Kharkiv and Svatovo-Kreminna directions: the settlements of Stelmakhivka, Makiivka, Chernopopivka, Kreminna are constantly being shelled.
“The Russians are attempting to assault from those positions. But all attacks have been repelled there. Moreover, our forces have managed to make minor gains in the Kreminna direction."
The Ukrainian military's General Staff reported that Russian attacks were repelled in and around 14 settlements in Luhansk and Donetsk oblasts on Jan. 13. The enemy is concentrating efforts on seizing the whole of Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast.
