Ukraine’s defense forces have neutralized a reconnaissance group of invading Russian forces in Kherson Oblast, Ukraine’s General Staff said in a Facebook post on Aug. 27.

The Ukrainian military said the invaders had tried to conduct reconnaissance near the village of Potiomkyne, in the north of Kherson Oblast, near its administrative border with Zaporizhzhya Oblast.

“The enemy was detected and neutralized,” the report says.

The General Staff also reported on the situation in other southern areas.

In particular, fire damage was recorded near Novopil, Huliaipole, Charivne, and Shevchenko in the parts of Zaporizhzhya that remain under government control. The Russians also launched air strikes at Novopil, Huliaipole, Novodanylivka, and Olhivske.

In the South Buh area, the main efforts of the enemy were concentrated on preventing the advance of Ukrainian troops, the General Staff said.

The areas around Nikopol, Oleksandrivka, Stepova Dolyna, Kobzartsi, Ternivka, Topolyne, Andriyivka, and Lozove were attacked by tanks, artillery, and multiple rocket systems.

The General Staff added that an enemy warship group continues to carry out reconnaissance and enforcement of a blockade of civilian shipping in the northwestern part of the Black Sea.
