Ukrainian troops have destroyed a hotel in Kherson Oblast used by Russians as a military base, the mayor of the town of Oleshky, Yevhen Ryshchuk, said on Telegram on Nov. 4.
“The Golden Pheasant Hotel near the village of Radensk in Kherson Oblast's Oleshky district was hit at night,” he said.
“Explosions after the detonation occurred could be heard for about two hours.”
Ryshchuk said he had no information about destroyed enemy equipment and troops at that moment.
The Russians limited local residents' access to the scene, he added.
“According to preliminary reports, the hotel's complex was completely destroyed,” the mayor said.
The Armed Forces of Ukraine has not yet commented on the report about the strike.
After the Ukrainian military destroyed crossings across the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast, the Russian garrison in the oblast found itself in an extremely difficult situation due to compromised supply routes, and face the risk of being trapped.
Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov said that the rainy weather had slowed Ukraine’s offensive in Kherson Oblast. He also noted that the Ukrainian army was controlling all the bridges leading into the oblast, so there is no way for Russian troops to retreat.
In turn, Ukrainian military intelligence chief Kyrylo Budanov said the operation to retake Kherson is likely to last until the end of November.
As reported on Nov. 3, Russian troops have already abandoned their checkpoints in Chornobayivka, Stepanivka, and Bilozerka in Kherson Oblast.
In addition, the Russian flag has reportedly disappeared from the local administration's building in the still-occupied city of Kherson. The Ukrainian military suggests this could be a false-flag operation.
