As Ukraine gears up for a probable counter-offensive against Russia’s invasion forces in the south, the Ukrainian military’s South Operational Command announced the liberation of the villages of Andriyivka and Lozove in the north of Kherson Oblast.

South Operational Command in its report for July 26 said the situation in the oblast was “difficult”, but that Ukrainian servicemen had finally cleared Andriyivka and Lozove of invading Russian troops.

Andriyivka and Lozove are villages in the northern part of Kherson Oblast, next to its border with Mykolayiv Oblast, which runs along the course of the Inhulets river. They are about 65 kilometers from the city of Kherson, which lies to their south-west.

The command said that during the operations to liberate the area, Ukrainian aviation had made four strikes against the enemy using attack aircraft, bombers and helicopters. Enemy strongholds in the area of Andriyivka, Bilohirka and Blahodatny were hit.

"Thus, Andriyivka was liberated and finally cleared of the Russian occupation forces,” says the command’s report.

“Likewise Lozove, where our troops secured firm positions a few days earlier!”
