The Ukrainian army is using between 4,000 to 7,000 artillery shells every day due to the high intensity of combat actions – and these rates are outpacing the current level of production, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg told The Guardian on March 22.
“The current rate of ammunition expenditure is higher than the current production rate,” Stoltenberg said.
The Secretary General emphasized that the Russian dictator "Putin doesn’t plan for peace, he’s planning for more war." That's why the West must be ready to continue military support for Ukraine for an extended period.
Russia has been increasing military manufacturing and has also reached out to Iran, North Korea, and other authoritarian countries for weapons and support, he said.
Stoltenberg called on NATO members to agree to a new defense investment pledge of at least 2% of GDP at the upcoming summit in Vilnius.
