Russian troops are still focusing their main efforts on attacking on the Bakhmut section of the front, while Ukrainian forces repelled attacks by the enemy in the vicinities of nine settlements, the Ukrainian military’s General Staff reported on Facebook on Jan. 18.
The latest update from the General Staff says that six missile attacks, three of them on civilian objects in Kupyansk and Kramatorsk, as well as 14 air strikes were conducted by Russian forces over the past day. There were also 95 attacks from multiple rocket launchers.
Ukrainian aviation carried out 12 strikes on concentrations of enemy troops and vehicles, as well as four strikes on anti-aircraft missile system positions. In addition, in the area of Soledar, anti-aircraft gunners destroyed an enemy Su-25 aircraft.
The threat of air and missile strikes on civilian objects remains high throughout Ukraine, the military says.
The enemy is focusing its main efforts attacking on the Bakhmut section of the front. At the same time, the Russians are conducting offensive actions on the Avdiyivka section of front in the Donbas – without success.
Ukrainian army units repelled enemy attacks in the vicinities of Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast, and in Bakhmut, Maryinka and six other settlements in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Volyn, Polissya, Siverskyi and Slobozhanskyi sections of the front in the north of Ukraine the situation remains stable. No enemy offensive groups were detected in the areas bordering Ukraine. Belarus continues to support the Russian armed aggression, and joint exercises by the aviation component of the regional grouping of the armed forces of Russia and Belarus continue at its airfields and in its airspace.
At the same time, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are taking measures to prevent provocative actions or sabotage by the enemy, and air defenses are being strengthened.
Over the past day, the enemy continued to carry out artillery and mortar attacks along the entire length of the front. The following localities were shelled: Mykolayivka, Chernihiv Oblast, four settlements in Sumy Oblast, and 16 settlements in Kharkiv Oblast.
On the Kupyansk section of the front in Kharkiv oblast, the areas of five settlements, as well as Novoselivske, Stelmakhivka and Andriyivka in Luhansk Oblast, were subjected to enemy fire.
On the Lyman section of the front, the enemy used all available ground fire means to attack areas of six settlements in Luhansk Oblast, as well as Terny and Yampolivka in Donetsk Oblast.
Soledar, Bakhmut, and 13 other settlements in Donetsk Oblast were hit by enemy artillery on the Bakhmut section of the front.
Avdiyivka and six other settlements in Donetsk Oblast came under enemy fire on the Avdiyivka section of front.
On the Novopavlivka section of the front, the enemy fired artillery and mortars at Vuhledar, Mykilski Dachi and Prechystivka in Donetsk Oblast.
On the Zaporizhzhya section, more than 10 localities suffered from artillery fire, including Vremivka and Novopil in Donetsk Oblast, and five settlements in Zaporizhzhya Oblast.
On the Kherson section, the occupying troops continue terrorizing civilians. In particular, Antonivka and Kherson came under mortar and artillery shelling, injuring civilians.
Ukrainian army missile and artillery units struck two command posts, as well as five enemy troop concentrations, an ammunition depot, an electronic warfare station, and a radar station.
