During the night of July 18 Russia launched kamikaze drone and Kalibr missile attacks on Ukraine, with the southern regions, particularly Odesa and Mykolaiv, being the primary targets.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported that all six Kalibr cruise missiles were intercepted and destroyed. Out of the 36 Shahed-136/131 strike drones launched, 31 were shot down.

The Kalibr missiles were likely launched from the Russian frigate Admiral Essen, while the Shahed drones were originated from the area near the Chauda range in Crimea.

Most of the Kalibr missiles and kamikaze drones were neutralized in the southern regions, specifically Odesa and Mykolaiv oblasts. The remaining attack drones were intercepted in the Donetsk, Kharkiv, and Dnipropetrovsk oblasts. Additionally, the Ukrainian Air Force managed to destroy one reconnaissance drone.

In related incidents from the preceding day, July 17, the Ukrainian Air Defense Forces successfully took down three Shahed strike drones, one Lancet drone, and nine tactical reconnaissance UAVs.
