Ukrainian troops in Luhansk Oblast have managed to push Russian invaders away from the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway, keeping the vital supply channel to Ukrainian holdouts in the region open, head of the regional administration Serhiy Hayday said in a Telegram post on May 29.

Hayday said that while the entire region remains under Russian artillery fire, Ukraine’s soldiers have managed force invading Russian troops out of Toshkivka. With some Ukrainian reinforcements arriving, Moscow’s forces near Komyshuvakha-Popasna were pushed “several kilometers” back, he said.

Severodonetsk remains under Ukrainian control, with Russian troops so far having managed only to entrench themselves at the city’s Mir hotel.

“Our guys are holding the line of defense; (the enemy) has seized nothing; Severodonetsk remains ours,” said Hayday.

According to him, Ukraine maintains control of Severodonetsk, Lysychansk, Hirske, and the area around the Lysychansk-Bakhmut highway.

Severodonetsk is bearing the brunt of Moscow’s offensive in the region, according to the Ukrainian military.
