Ukrainian forces have liberated the village of Potiomkyne in Kherson Oblast from Russian invaders, the Ukrainian military said in a Facebook post on June 30.
The village is located in the north of Kherson Oblast, just over the administrative border from Dnipropetrovsk Oblast.
"The local population of Potiomkyne has sighed with relief, and the Ukrainian military is pleased with the result," reads the report.
"With confidence in their eyes and with restrained smiles on their lips, our guys promise to keep pace."
It is noted that the servicemen of the 60th separate infantry brigade carried out a successful offensive, during which they repulsed several enemy counterattacks, destroyed infantry fighting vehicles, tanks, and a Tiger armored vehicle.
Earlier the Pivden (South) Operational Command said that the Ukrainian army was gradually pushing back the Russian invaders in the south. Russian troops are being forced to set up new defensive lines.
According to the U.S. Department of Defense, the Ukrainian military have been successful in liberating several small towns northwest and west of Kherson.
