Ukraine’s military has wiped out a military base belonging to Russian mercenary company Wagner Group in the occupied town of Popasna, Luhansk Regional Governor Serhiy Hayday said in a Telegram messenger post on Aug. 15.
“The Armed Forces of Ukraine once again successfully worked on enemy headquarters, which was pointed out to them by one of the representatives of the Russian media,” he said.
“This time yesterday, in Popasna, Wagner PMC’s headquarters was destroyed by accurate firepower.”
Hayday said the number of casualties was being verified.
At the same time, he did not disclose any other details about the Ukrainian attack.
Journalist Denis Kazansky said on Aug. 14 the Ukrainian military had used HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems to hit the Wagner Group headquarters in occupied Popasna.
After the attack by the Ukrainian military, the mercenaries took out the dead and wounded from under the rubble of the base.
Russian military correspondent Sergey Sreda recently visited Wagner mercenaries in the Donbas and took photos with them. One of the photos shows a person who looks like Wagner PMC owner Yevgeny Prigozhin, while another photo shows a sign with the address of the nearest bomb shelter – 12 Myronivska Street.
The building used by the Wagner group was located at 8 Myronivska Street.
