Ukrainian MP from the ruling political party, Oleksiy Kovalov, who admitted to collaborating with the Russian invaders, has been fatally stabbed in his own house, Ukrainian military journalist Andriy Tsaplienko said in a Telegram messenger post on Aug. 28.

According to Tsaplienko, Kovalov’s wife is in intensive care.

“There are a lot of occupation ‘police officers’ near his house,” the journalist said.

“Oleksiy Kovalov, a rich Kherson farmer, got into the parliament from the Servant of the People Party and unexpectedly, at the beginning of the invasion, offered his services to the invaders. He arranged the supply of his products to Russia through the Crimea.”

Earlier Kherson Regional Council member Serhiy Khlan said Kovalov had been killed in the village of Zaliznyi Port in Kherson Oblast.

Kovalov was elected from the Servant of the People Party in the 186th district of Kherson Oblast. After the partial capture of the region by Russian troops, he decided to work for the invaders, saying that allegedly “Russia is here in earnest and forever.”

For this, the Russians appointed Kovalov the so-called “deputy head” of the occupation administration of Kherson Oblast.
