Ukrainian pilots will need less than six months to master the F-16 fighter jets, Air Force spokesperson, Yuriy Ihnat, said on Ukrainian national television on April 24.

“Two of our pilots with combat experience have been evaluated in the United States,” he said.

They first practiced on the flight simulator, and then on a mockup.“

It was concluded that it would take significantly less than six months to master the F-16s or any other aircraft,” he said.

Ukrainian Air Force commander, Gen. Serhiy Holubtsov, had a similar assessment on March 20.

Ihnat added that the F-16 issue continues to be on the agenda.

“The issue is not simple, but it will continue to be a priority,” he said.

A positive decision on the transfer of fighter jets to Ukraine is believed to be a matter of one or two months, said Ukrainian Defense Minister Oleksii Reznikov.
