The Ukrainian Red Cross Society has strongly condemned a fundraising campaign by the Russian Red Cross Society to support the families of Russian invaders, stating its official position in a post on its website on Oct. 25.
The Ukrainian Red Cross said its Russian counterpart was supporting the propaganda of Vladimir Putin, the dictator of the aggressor state Russia.
"The Russian Red Cross repeatedly violates the principle of neutrality, this time by starting a promotion of the political action #МЫВМЕСТЕ (WeTogether, MyVmeste), which was initiated by leadership of the aggressor state — Russia, and foresees the assistance to the military forces," the Ukrainian Red Cross said.
The society called for strict measures to be taken to prevent such actions being repeated.
In addition, Ukrainian Human Rights Ombudsman Dmytro Lubinets called for the exclusion of Russian Red Cross from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and for ban on the Russian Red Cross using the Red Cross emblem due to "its misuse."
