Sappers of the National Guard are engaged in mine clearance of Kyiv Oblast after the liberation of the region from the Russian invaders, Ukraine's Interior Ministry said in a Telegram messenger post on May 22.

To date, about 10,000 explosive hazards have been found and destroyed.

"On some days, sappers find several hundred dangerous munitions left behind by the Russian occupiers, including shells banned by the Geneva Convention," the ministry said.

The Russian invaders left Kyiv Oblast on April 2, more than a month after the start of a full-scale military invasion of Ukraine. Since then, specialists have been clearing the area of mines.

According to the President's Office, the main roads have been completely cleared of mines in Kyiv Oblast, but it's too early to talk about the complete mine clearance of the previously occupied territories. Therefore, the ban on visiting forest areas is still in effect.

Kyiv City State Administration has listed dangerous places to visit in the capital city. The officials reminded that both the Ukrainian and Russian troops mined the area during the hostilities in Kyiv.
