Ukrainian strike on Zmiinyi Island ‘destroys Pantsir air defense system and 49 troops’

AUkrainian attack on Ukraine’s Russian-occupied Zmiinyi Island in the Black Sea hit an enemy Pantsir C1 air defense system, a radar station, and transport vehicles, in addition to killing 49 Russian soldiers, the Ukrainian military’s Operational Command South reported on June 22.

During the day on June 21, the Ukrainian military destroyed 49 Russian troops, two Msta-S self-propelled howitzers, one tractor, one electronic warfare station, an ammunition depot, as well as five armored and automobile vehicles, the Ukrainian military said.

In operations in the Black Sea area throughout the day, Ukrainian units completed 150 fire missions and carried out five airstrikes, the military said.

It was also reported that gas drilling rigs, seized by Russia when it invaded Ukraine’s Crimea in 2014, had also been hit. The Russians were reported to have been using them for intelligence gathering as well as gas drilling.
