Ukrainian forces have advanced several tens of kilometers deep into the Russian positions in southern Ukraine, head of the joint coordination press center of the South Operational Command Natalia Humeniuk said on Ukrainian national television on Sept. 9.

“There is good news from the south, and it’s the most important good news,” she said.

“We’re advancing, and that’s obvious. We’ve advanced from two to several tens of kilometers deep into enemy positions.”

At the same time, Humeniuk did not name the settlements and areas in which the Armed Forces of Ukraine had advanced.

U.S. cable television news station CNN reported on Sept. 7, citing U.S. and Ukrainian officials, that the Ukrainian military plans to retake most of the Russian-occupied Kherson Oblast by the end of the year.

The South Operational Command reported on Sept. 6 that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had liberated several more settlements from the Russian invaders in Kherson Oblast.

However, the command did not specify their names. It said the military was carrying out clearance operations against enemy sabotage and reconnaissance groups, as well as clearing mines.
