Ukrainian military service members have finished their training on French-made CAESAR self-propelled artillery systems in Denmark, and the guns will be shipped to Ukraine in coming weeks, Danish Defense Ministry said in a press release on April 14.

The Danish government decided to transfer all of its 19 CAESAR guns to Ukraine back in January. In addition, Denmark pledged to train Ukrainian crews to operate these modern howitzers.

Acting Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen visited the proving grounds and observed the last group of Ukrainian troops finish their training program.

“This is a large and very significant donation, which is in great demand by Ukraine,” said Poulsen.

“There is no doubt that it is needed and with the end of the training and education course, the Ukrainians can put it to use on the battlefield, where it will make a clear difference.”

The ministry also noted that in total, Denmark has provided Ukraine with EUR 830 million ($921 million) in security assistance.
