Ukrainian troops repel Russian attempts to advance in Bakhmut area, says General Staff

Ukrainian forces repelled an offensive by invading Russian troops near the villages of Kodema and Zaitseve in the Bakhmut area of Donetsk Oblast over the last day, Ukraine’s General Staff said in its regular morning Facebook post on Aug. 29.

According to the Ukrainian military, the enemy also shelled military and civilian infrastructure near Bakhmut, Shumy, Yakovlivka, Zaitseve, and Kodema.

The Russians also launched air strikes near Yakovlivka and Kodema. In addition, they continue aerial reconnaissance with the use of UAVs in this area.

In the Avdiyivka area of the front, to the north-west of the Russian-occupied city of Donetsk, the invaders shelled Avdiyivka, Vodiane, Vesele, Maryinka, Oleksandropil, and Tonenke.

“In order to improve their tactical position, the enemy conducted offensive battles near Pervomaiske, but failed,” the report says.

In the Kramatorsk area, shelling from artillery systems was recorded near Hryhorivka, Siversk and Ivano-Dariivka. The invaders also used aircraft to launch an air strike near Hryhorivka.

In the Novopavlivka area, the Ukrainian positions were shelled from tanks, barrel artillery and multiple launch rocket systems near Pavlivka, Volodymyrivka, Kostiantynivka, and Novoukrainka. The enemy also used aircraft to strike near Volodymyrivka.

The General Staff said that in the Zaporizhzhya area, the Russians shelled positions using artillery and rockets, and used tanks near Dorozhnianka, Shevchenko, Poltavka, Bilohiria, and Novopil.

They also launched air strikes near Novopil and Novosilka.
