Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky gave details of the new U.S. defense aid package for Ukraine in his regular evening video address to the nation on June 15.

According to Zelensky, this assistance is very important for the defense of Ukraine in the Donbas. The United States will also provide a new $225 million humanitarian aid package.

Zelesnky said that he and Biden also discussed the tactical situation on the battlefield and how to accelerate the victory of Ukraine. Zelensky thanked the United States for its support and leadership in mobilizing incoming assistance from other partners.

“The U.S. security support (to Ukraine) is unprecedented,” said Zelensky during his conversation with Biden, according to a report issued by the Ukrainian President's Office.

‘(This support) brings us closer to a shared victory over the Russian invaders... We must win this war and return our occupied territories. This will be a shared victory."

Earlier this month, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin said the new aid package would include 18 M777 howitzers, 36,000 155mm artillery rounds, two Harpoon coastal defense systems, and more.

A regular meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues of Ukraine (aka Ramstein-3) took place on June 15. Following the meeting, Slovakia promised to transfer Mi-17 combat helicopters and ammunition to Kyiv, Canada, Poland and the Netherlands said they would send artillery, and Germany promised to supply three Mars II multiple launch rocket systems.
