The White House may announce additional aid to Ukraine as early as the end of this week, CNN wrote on Jan. 17, citing a statement by U.S. National Security Council spokesman John Kirby.

It is not yet known whether the aid package will include main battle tanks — much needed for Ukraine’s military efforts to expel Russian invasion forces from the country.

Kirby said the United States will make efforts to bring Russian dictator Vladimir Putin to justice for any war crimes.

“You will continue to hear coming from the United States additional packages of security assistance, additional weapons and capabilities for Ukraine — perhaps as soon as the end of this week,” Kirby said.

Asked if the package would include tanks for Ukraine, he didn’t answer, saying he “didn’t want to get ahead of things we haven’t announced yet”

“We're gonna continue to modulate these packages so that they're most appropriate for what Ukraine needs, and if we can't provide that, we're working with other allies and partners to see if they can,” he said.
