The United States plans to deliver M1 Abrams main battle tanks to Ukraine by the end of the year, U.S. Department of Defense Deputy Spokesperson Sabrina Singh said during a briefing on April 5.
“Training (on Abrams tanks) hasn't started…,” said Singh.
“Our goal is to have those (tanks delivered) to Ukraine before the end of the year. But that's the only time frame I can give you right now.”
Previously, a senior U.S. Department of Defense official told CNN that Ukrainian crews will begin their M1Abrams tanks training "relatively soon."
On Jan. 25, Washington announced the transfer of 31 Abrams tanks to Ukraine.
On March 21, White House National Security spokesman John Kirby said that the United States is working on transferring Abrams tanks to Ukraine a faster than initially planned.
