US to announce $400 million military aid package for Ukraine

The United States is set to announce another $400 million security assistance package for Ukraine, CNN reported on March 3, citing two U.S. officials.

According to the report, the package will include GMLRS ammunition for HIMARS rocket artillery systems, along with 155mm and 105mm artillery shells.

Furthermore, the tranche is also expected to provide Ukraine with armored bridge layers, which would enable Ukrainian troops to cross trenches in combat conditions.

White House National Security spokesman John Kirby previously said that Washington will announce additional steps to support Ukraine militarily on March 3, with a focus on amnion for artillery systems already used by the Ukrainian military.

On Feb. 24, the United States announced a $2 billion aid package for Ukraine, which included HIMARS ammunition, artillery rounds, drones, and other pieces of military equipment.
